In order to obtain a contact lens prescription, you must have a contact lens exam in addition to your comprehensive exam. Special testing will be done to evaluate your vision with contacts and also to determine what size and type of contacts are best for you. This is separate from your routine eye exam and is not usually covered by your medical insurance.
Get the Care You Deserve
Is this your first time trying contacts? We are here for you from start to finish. Eye See Vision Care does contact lens evaluations and contact lens classes for patients 5 days a week. We also offer free post-exam follow-up appointments to make sure you are in the contact lenses that are right for you.
What to Expect
Your contact lens fitting will start by discussing your individual needs with one of our Optometrists. Measurements are then taken to determine your vision at distance and near, as well as the curvature of your cornea. The health of your eyes and your ocular history is thoroughly evaluated before lens type, brand and lens specifications are calculated. Your doctor will then discuss their recommendations with you and a fitting plan will be created.
Depending on how long you have been wearing contacts and how comfortable you are with your current lenses (if applicable), your doctor may give you a set of trial lenses to wear for about a week and then schedule you to come back in for a contact lens follow-up. This quick follow-up appointment is necessary for ensuring the best fit and finalizing your contact prescription.
